The Board of Directors of the Western Norway Regional Health Authority has designated Ullandhaug as the location for Stavanger’s new hospital. Co-location of the hospital, university and innovation environment at Ullandhaug will strengthen the links between innovation, research, development and industry within the region.

The pilot project for Stavanger University Hospital 2023 (SUS2023), which is currently underway, is due to be completed in the first quarter of 2017. The planned ground works and construction of the new hospital are due to start around year-end 2018 / early in 2019, with the hospital ready for occupation in 2023.

The first construction phase, with a budget of around NOK 8 billion, will house all emergency and somatic day care services currently offered by Stavanger University Hospital (SUS) at Våland.
